Read Novel

I've just read novel that I bought last week.

The novel is If You Could See Me Now written by Cecelia Ahern, the No1 bestselling author of PS, I Love You.

But I haven't finished to read all the chapters.
Still on chapter 6 over 43. :)

I found statements that I could write down in you, Serena, as my critical t
hinking assignment.

Here they are:

Elizabeth swallowed hard and nodded, "one more chance, Colm", she gulped and feeling her pride disintegrating. "Just give her one more chance, please. I'll keep an eye on her. I promise she won't be out of my sight for a minute. She's going to get better, you know. She just needs time to work things out".
page 36

Analyze with critical thinking:
The statement above is type of Material Fallacy that is Ad populum appeal to Pity.

Ad populum appeal to Pity attempts to make you feel sympathy or sadness so that you will agree with other person's argument or feeling sorry for someone or something.

In this story, Elizabeth tried to persuade Colm so her beloved sister, Saoirse, had not to go to court because her criminal action, which was drove car when drunk and no license for driving.
Elizabeth wanted Colm to be sympathy to them, Elizabeth and Saoirse.

Next one...

Elizabeth exploded...then Elizabeth continued, "Today you are going to your granddad's and if I hear from him that there was one mention of Ivan, you will be in big trouble! Do you understand?" Luke began to cry softly.
page 69

Analyze with critical thinking:
Remember the fallacy which says Attempts to make you feel intimidated, or worried you, or will be hurt unless you agree with the person's argument.

Yup! That is Ad populum appeal to Force.

The statement is using Ad populum appeal to Force. Elizabeth made Luke felt so intimidated until Luke wanted to cry.

Well,well...
I want to continue to read now..

See You Serena..

jogging

Hi Serena,

there is something coming up in my mind.
I'm going to use Unknown Biography to tell you about the picture that I found just now.

Here it is:

Her name is Santana. Before she's running in this picture, she was on the her house, she made breakfast for her husband and her children first. Then she decided to jogging that morning.
After she had jogging, she came back home. She showered and was ready to go to work. She didn't forget to have her breakfast too.

mom..dad..miss you.. :)

My father and my mother called me just now.
Yeah, I was so happy.

So many Interrogative Questions in our conversation.

Interrogative Questions are questions intended to solicit information from you.
Yup! My parent were using it.

Such as :

"how are you, epha?"
"what are you doing now?"

"have you done all your assignments yet?"
"how was your ISS night?" "have you had your dinner?"
"so, when the exactly are you coming back?"

"what kind of bag do you like? because father is going to Bali tomorrow" (new bag, I love it..!)
"Do you have class for tomorrow?"

but there is a leading question which my father told me :

"how could you even think that your brothers don't miss you?" of course they do, but they have slept now(because I asked him before where my brothers were, why they didn't talk to me, then I think they don't miss me like you..hehe).

Serena, I really miss them.
But it's ok. I'll meet them soon.
:)

Re-Write The Ending Story of a Movie

Hi Serena

Now I'm going to re-write the ending story for one of my favorites movie, that is A Walk To Remember. Actually, I love the ending. But still, it feels so sad for me. So now, I'll change it.

First...

The Real Story

Landon Carter is a famous but rebellious guy at his fellow high school with his friends. But one time, he gets his punishment from the high school because he is founded for entering the forbidden area at a factory and with a guy whom injured that time. He has to participate after-school activities like tutoring and performing in drama. Then he meets Jamie Sullivan, a quiet girl and loves books very much. Landon asks her to help him for learning his line of the scripts. And Jamie agrees. But one day, when Jamie asks him if they will meet after school for practice the script together, Landon responds only "in your dreams". It really makes Jamie feels so embarrassed, moreover Landon says it in front of his friends. From that time they aren't close anymore and Landon has to learn and practice the script by himself. The play is started. During the play, Jamie surprised Landon and the audience with her beauty and voice when she sings the song. Landon kisses Jamie at the end of the play, which is not in the script. From that time, Landon tries to get closer to Jamie but Jamie rejects him on and on. Until Landon finds his friends mock Jamie by sharing picture of "modified" Jamie. Landon is so mad. He protects Jamie by hitting his best friend and since that time he stay away from his friends and get closer with Jamie. Landon tries to make her dreams come true. Start from "being two places at once" and tattoo. Finally, Jamie tells the truth to Landon if she has leukemia. Landon is shocked. Then he tries many things to make all the Jamie's dreams come true such as building telescope so Jamie can see a comet.
The story ends
with Jamie's death and before that Landon and Jamie's married in the church, where Jamie's parents get married, which is the top Jamie's dream.
I was so sad when Jamie's died.

So my happy ending story is:

After they get married, they spent their life together. Suddenly, Landon asks Jamie to check her condition. Jamie refuses it but Landon still encourages her then Jamie agrees. Surprisingly, doctor says there is miracle. No his knowledge could describe what happens with Jamie. No cancer anymore in her body. It is miracle!! God gives second chance to live. Jamie and Landon can't believe it so they try to check again in other doctor. And the doctor says the same thing. Jamie can be a normal and healthy person again. They are very happy and thank to God. Day by day, Jamie's condition is going better. Then finally, God gives them one more time happiness. They have twins. Realizing how God loves them so much, they give their children their loves and they enjoys their life gratefully together..

:)

I love it - N92

Now 14th April 2008, 11:05pm, Serena...

I think I still have an idea about critical thinking..

Hmm.. I'm going to try BRAINSTORMING right now..

ok, I'll start and try..

...
...
...
5 minutes !! done..!

This is the list what come in my mind if somebody shows me a Nokia N92:
  • send sms and mms
  • play songs or musics
  • take pictures
  • for style or accessories
  • edit pictures
  • record voice or video
  • play games
  • throw it away to thief or evil people
  • communication
  • businesses

I'll continue tomorrow, Serena..
Good nite..

apologize - song

Recently I love to hear a song “Apologize” from One Republic feat Timbaland. It is a nice song from the lyric itself and also the melody of the song.

There are parts of the lyric that I think related to critical thinking (again..hehehe)
Here they are:

“I'd take another chance, take a fall
Take a shot for you
And I need you like a heart needs a beat
But it's nothing new

I loved you with a fire red-Now it's turning blue,

And you say..."Sorry" like the angel heaven let me think was you

but I'm afraid...

It's too late to apologize, it's too late
I said it's too late to apologize, it's too late”

Analyze :

“I'd take another chance, take a fall
Take a shot for you
My assumption for this lyric is he would do everything for the girl whom he loves and he wants the girl be his girlfriend, his love. He would make any sacrifice to get her love.

And I need you like a heart needs a beat
This is a Simile. There’s a comparative qualifier “like”.
He really needs the girl for his life. It sounds he can not live without her. (Assumption)

I loved you with a fire red-Now it's turning blue
It is a metaphor. He loves her very much (fire red), really lover her.
But then, he doesn’t love her anymore (turning blue), I’m sure there are reasons why he doesn’t love her anymore.

And you say..."Sorry" like the angel heaven let me think was you
It is a Simile. He describes the girl says Sorry like angel.
I think the girl tries to say Sorry from the bottom of her heart. She knows that she’s wrong. That is my assumption.

but I'm afraid...
It's too late to apologize, it's too late
I said it's too late to apologize, it's too late..

Assumption
: He wants to tell the girl if he’s really sick because of what she has done to him. He doesn’t want her come into his heart or life again even she tries to say sorry. It is too late for her to fix all the bad things that have happened to both of them which make their relationship broke up.

I love this song very much, Serena...

presentation

short story here, Serena..

I had Information System class today, 14th April 2008.
Before the class started, Icha (my friend) came into the class.
She had had her presentation before she attended the Informational System class.

Then I asked her, "how's the presentation?"
She answered, "so-so"

My friend's answered is over-generality.
Over-generality happens when the meaning of the words is very clear and understandable but the statement refers to an idea that is not sufficiently specific to allow us to determine the important ideas that are being shared.

The answer "so so" is very clear and I understand it. But I couldn't determine the important ideas that are being shared. I conclude that the presentation is just so-so.

Ok, we'll continue doing the assignment later...
